Whip Basics DVDs Now Available!

The Whip Basics DVDs have arrived and are now available for sale! This series of DVDs will take you through the most basic whip cracks and into an extended combination of 23 cracks by the time you reach volume 3.

Here’s what each volume teaches:

It goes into detail on the various techniques and points out the most common mistakes made by beginners. By the end of the video, you will learn a 4 crack combination.

Volume 2: This DVD picks up where volume 1 leaves off. It explains the Figure 8 (fast and slow), a variation of the Forward crack, the Coachman’s Crack, a New 10 crack sequence and focuses on target work. As in the previous volume, you will learn how to avoid common mistakes.

Volume 3: The third installment of the series directly builds on volume 2 and explains other things such as the Slow Figure 8 Overhead, how to safely turn during complex routines, and also goes into detail on wrapping objects and persons safely. It concludes with a 23 crack combination.

New Son, Working Hard to Catch Up

I am happy to announce that my newest son, Vance, was born on Thursday. He and my wife are now home and doing well. For those keeping track, this is child #5 for us. Vance is my 4th son.

With the new addition, I am scheduled to be on leave from my job for about 3 weeks. My plans are to help with the baby and really work hard to knock out as many of the whips on my list as possible. I have already made 2 since Friday. If memory serves, my friend Joe Driver made 8 whips in about 4 days during the Christmas rush last year, so I’m going to see if I can accomplish something along those lines while I am off. If I could make 30 whips in the next 3 weeks without my hands falling off, that would be awesome… Wish me luck.

(And Even if I am not able to make 30 whips during the next 3 weeks, I’ll hopefully be able to knock down a significant amount of time on everyone’s wait for their order. That’s the main thing I hope to accomplish.)

I’m also hoping that I will be able to get some more work done on the whipmaking video we are going to produce. That will largely depend on my wife’s recovery time from having the baby and if the baby will sleep long enough for us to do any filming in the evenings.

Thanks again,

Rhett

Order Book Now Closed

In case you missed it in the previous post, I want to repost a message to let everyone know that I am not accepting any new whip orders until the the end of November or beginning of December.

I will continue to accept orders for handles and accessories. I will also be using this time to work on my recently announced whipmaking tutorial DVD project.

Thanks,

Rhett

Update

Just want to share some information with everyone to bring everyone up to speed on the latest from my neck of the woods…

1) I am eagerly awaiting the birth of my newest son, Vance. I expect my wife to start labor any time now.

2) We have started work on the cow whip construction DVD, but I will probably not have it ready for sale until October. I hope to work on it some while I’m off work after the baby is born.

3) I just finished my Basic EMT training. However, today I decided to take another EMT class starting in late September, this time it will be for the “EMT Intermediate” level. This will be a 8-10 week course, so it won’t last nearly as long as the previous course. Because of this development, I will not be taking new whip orders until I am finished with that course. (I will still accept orders for falls, handles, piggin’ strings and poppers)

I really appreciate everyone bearing with me through this time.
